Naruto #72

This is the final volume of Naruto. The series was already doing a spin wave into the abyss since volume 45 with Sasuke's character turning into a empty psychopath that worships his genocidal brother, and blaming an entire village of innocents and soldiers that don't know what their superiors did instead, but this is where the plane hits the sea. Nonetheless to say, Naruto engages on Sasuke on who can be the bigger Itachi fan. I'm serious. This is the start of the volume. I'm not spoiling it. The entire series boils down in its ending to Itachi, the dude who killed babies and old men, being some kind of misunderstood hero. Also, the manga engages on some fun material who is never fun for everybody: it has another time skip where a huge change happened, and tells us to watch a movie to understand it. I never watched this movie and I never will, out of principle. Never tell me to watch another media to get the story. Also I heavily dislike Hinata and she had a huge presence on the trailers. Watching a movie about this flat moe caricature going "Naruto-kun" for two hours is a masochistic experience I will not submit myself to. This is the horrible resolution of a manga who has already become horrible. At least we get the satisfaction of an ending. Oh wait, they're doing a spin-off about Naruto's son. They will milk the cow until gets dry. I'm not gonna watch/read/play it anyway. |

X-Men Blue: Origins (2023) #1

Once upon a time, some dude proposed the ridiculous idea that Wolverine's origin should be of him being an overgrown-over-evolved wolverine, the actual animal. I will not spoil the plot of this comic but I'm giving you an idea of how ridiculous the retcon is. Next week mystique will grow bat wings or something but for copyright issues Marvel will call her Woman-Bat. You see, this is a major problem with Marvel since the year 2012 when Carol Danvers was inexplicably changed into Captain Marvel: they have point A, they have point B, and the bridge between them is nonsense. And they will not justify their points on the page, oh no. Our authors will argue their points on Twitter using off-the scenes issues. It reminds me of professional wrestlers and them constantly bringing up real-life issues in what should be a fictional representation of fighting. If you're a Nightcrawler fan, you should ignore this trash just like you should also ignore Chuck Austen's similarly stupid origin. Some origins are better not told. Like Wolverine. I'm just giving a 5 because the artists deserve some merit for making this mess of a story that makes no sense pretty to look at. |
