Batgirl and the Birds of Prey #4

Nov 11, 2016

I've been really enjoying this series, and this issue has been one of the best so far. Just like the Dinah Lance backstory issue, this one was a short history of Helena Bertinelli and the Bertinelli family. Along with Huntress's return to the Birds of Prey as they finally track down the new Oracle's lair. What I love about this series is that it not only has the action and adventure of a great DC series, but humor and emotional moments as well. Great writing and Claire Roe had been a wonderful artist for this series, but unfortunately someone else illustrated this issue. Hopefully they bring Claire back on.

Cyborg (2016) #4

Nov 10, 2016

As a long time Cyborg fan, this entire series has been really thrilling and engaging, simply from an emotional and psychological aspect. Seeing Victor's struggle to identify his humanity within the machine has been so touching. Before this issue, every issue had been a 10 for me. This issue does indeed drop down to an 8 rating. It isn't a terrible issue by any means. But it does seem like a little bit of a pointless filer issue, and doesn't do the job of holding your attention that previous issues do. One major drawback of this issue is the art. The art in pervious issues has been supreme. On a positive note, the ending was great. I would still recommend this series to any reader, especially Cyborg fans. I hope they can pick it back up for the next issue and maybe get the original artist back.

Seeing Pre-New 52 Clark and Rebirth Dick team up and share their mutual connections with one another's doppelgängers was a real delight. The affection that Clark has for the Dick Grayson he knew, along with Dick's clear affection for New-52 Clark and Tim Drake, really add some heart warming touches to a very fun, light, enjoyable issue. It was only a one-shot, but it reminds the reader, and Dick himself, of the importance of Dick Grayson to the DC universe as a whole. Loved this issue.
