Batwoman (2017) #2 |

I love Kate Kane/Batwoman. I think there is huge potential for her character and I couldn't wait to see how her new series under the Rebirth initiative would serve her. Unfortunately, despite the exciting and well drawn art, there seems to be little going for this series, at least as of now. We are only two issues (three if you count the one shot) into this series and the most I can say for the story thus far is that it's a bit underwhelming. Not only that, it was even confusing at times. There were so many new locations/characters/concepts introduced to us so fast, that it was really hard for me to keep track of what was going on half the time (the flashbacks didn't help). Motivations seem really hard to grasp at times and even the death of a character that Kate had a past didn't have the power you'd think it should have. We barely now these characters, so why should we care about them? I have hopes for things to pick up as this arc goes on but as of now, I might just drop this and wait for the trade to come out if this arc turns out to be good after all. But as of now, I have many other books that interest me more. It sucks for Batwoman, but hopefully things will be looking up for her in the future. |

Trinity (2016) #7 |

This was kind of cool. Ra's Al Ghul and Lex Luthor are probably in my top favorite DC villains of all time and the inclusion of Circe was also nice too. This is just a set-up issue for what I can only guess is going to be a "Dark Trinity" story arc featuring these character going up against Supes, Bats, and Diana at some point. That's cool and seeing them interact with each other and their disdain for one another was my personal favorite aspect of this issue. However, this issue sort of lost my interest towards the ending with the Pandora Pits and this weird Trinity monster hybrid thing. So, they had to prove themselves by defeating the monster? To do what exactly? Why do they need to prove themselves when all three of them are clearly prophecised on an ancient wall of hieroglyphics to be the chosen ones? Wtf is up with that? Overall, good but nothing special. |

Decent issue. I personally LOVE Etrigan the Demon, so seeing him in this issue was exciting. Other than that, it was an okay issue. Etrigan needs his own book. :( |

This was a damn good issue. By no means does it start to answer questions, this is purely a set-up issue. But I have to say, this was an AWESOME and EXCITING set-up issue. |
