Wonder Woman (2016) #43

Mar 30, 2018

In this issue of Wonder Jason, Jason continues to revel in his newfound superpowers. He's so cool, you guys. He's so powerful now, he's even stronger than his sister (you know, whatsherface. I wanna say... Dina? Diane, maybe?). He's so powerful, he's still discovering new abilities! But Steve Trevor is not impressed! He doesn't want anybody hurting His Angel (swoon!). And, hoo boy, I wouldn't want to get on his bad side, because according to James Robinson, the guy is a top-grade enlisted Navy man, a government operative and (by logical deduction) the youngest Air Force Colonel in US history! He even hows how to defeat that Dana chick! Gosh, it's great to finally see some Strong Male Characters taking the lead in Wonder Woman. Meanwhile, Didi faffs around and generally fails to contribute anything, as per usual. I know this sounds harsh, but I just don't see why Robinson is keeping this girl around any more. She's such a dud! Like, last issue, Grail straight-up told her what Darkseid's plan was. He needs an army, and in order to get one he needs to reach Themyscira. Home of a race of immortal warrior women. It doesn't take a genius to do the math, right? Welp, ol' Debbie isn't much of a thinker, so she decides to interrogate the captive Female Furies and see if they can spell it out for her. And I know what you're thinking, she can't screw this up, surely -- she has a Lasso of Truth! All she has to do is tie the prisoners up and wait for them to start gabbing. But no, that's just too damn sensible for Denise, who has to complicate things yet again by releasing the prisoners, giving them back their weapons and making them fight her. As if once she's beaten into the ground, they'll start to feel differently about betraying their boss. Ugh, she's such an ass. Whose idea was it to let Darlene tag along on this story anyway?
