Nightwing (2016) #56 |
Jan 9, 2019 |
Nightwing has quickly become one of the worst books DC is currently publishing. This issue exemplifies that. The writing, plotting, every single line of dialogue is so lazy and uninteresting it makes me wonder if anyone involved in the creative process actual wants to be doing this job. It certainly doesn't seem like it, with the complete lack of apparent effort on display in this issue. The generic cops continue to be generic, Ric continues to repeat the same exact thoughts he's been thinking for the past 5 issues, (seriously, are they cut and pasting these inner monologues?) and the characterisation of Ric continues to be one of the worst things in comic books today. I'm not being hyperbolic when I say this either: The execution of the Ric Grayson experiment has been one of the most bungled, aimless and disastrous storylines I've seen in modern comic book history. If you were waiting for this arc to end and tie things up in a satisfying way, or give just a glimmer of hope that things will get better in the future, think again. As comic reader, I'm disappointed. As a long time Dick Grayson fan, I'm heartbroken by just how bad this book has become. |
