Ice Cream Man #10 |
Mar 7, 2019 |
The developing backstory to the conflict between Rick and Caleb is certainly a welcome and interesting premise. The story telling and central ideas behind the horror of the comic would eventually stale without an overarching narrative to drive the plot forward. Sure, we love to watch normal people with normal people problems experience supernatural difficulty but how long could that really last? |

Pretty Violent #1 |

Pretty Violent isn’t, nor does it claim to be a hardcore character driven exploration of the medium and that is its biggest strength. It is a wonderful, fun throw back to the days of old fashioned cartoons where one could laugh at the endless stream of gags and violence. While one won’t find a lot of depth, what is there is a passionate creator that grew up loving cartoons. Pretty Violent is honestly, pretty great. I’m coming back next month for more madness and mayhem. |

The Weatherman: Vol. 2 #3 |
Aug 22, 2019 |
While I loved series 1, so far series 2 has felt like it was stumbling around trying to find a voice, thankfully this issue truly feels like a series 1 story. The pacing and plot resolution felt like a well earned payoff for a few long standing questions. There are still plenty of mysteries to be found in the world of The Weatherman but overall, this issue kicked the series back in to gear. This one had me saying ‘wow’ by the end... |
