I have been looking forward to this all year and I wasn't disappointed. King writes such a tortured Elmer Fudd and re-imagines the Looney Tunes cast in a realistic, gritty setting. The second story was just as good but is more Looney Tunes show inspired. Both stories are fantastic and showcases Tom King's range as a writer.

Batman/Elmer Fudd Special #1

By: Tom King, Lee Weeks
Released: Jun 28, 2017

After a chance meeting with billionaire Bruce Wayne, Elmer Fudd's obsession quickly escalates into stalking Batman through the dark alleys and high-class social settings of Gotham City. Welcome to Bat Season! And the bonus Looney Tunes backup story features DC characters written by Tom King and artwork by Byron Vaughns.

I had no doubts this will be good. But I definitely didn't expect it to be THIS good. Tom King once again shows his incredible talent and Lee Weeks' art is perfect for this story. The backup story was great and funny as well, which felt like right from the classic episodes of the Looney Tunes. When I think about it, issues like this is why I read comics.

This was absurdly good, clever and funny. Lee Weeks art was amazing on this, as was Tom King's writing. There are all these little details everywhere that make a reread worthwhile. Would absolutely recommend.

The book has issues with keeping character voices and characterization straight, but taken entirely on its own it's a dumb but fun enough book with nice art.

Solid issue with Epting doing good work. But unfortunately the book's story suffers from pacing issues, and could stand to be a bit more compressed. Bennett is someone who is hit and miss for me but her work on Batwoman is fine, there is a couple of neat and fun character beats and potentially interesting thematic beats, but on the whole it's a very slow book that may read better in trade.

An almost perfect send-off to the surprisingly great Flintstones reboot. But I agree with Big Borther that the last 1/3 loses a bit of its edge. Still, it is great and bittersweet last issue overall.

Immonen's Hellcat is a solid, fun mini-series with nice art that won't set your world on fire but isn't a waste of time and/or money, either.

The second decent issue of the run. Izaakse was a much better fit than Malin, and compensated for some of Zub's many shortcomings. It isn't a great issue but had it stayed at this level and actually followed up the few interesting plot threads that had been set-up, it would have been a bearable run.

You get the first inkling of something interesting or worthwhile happening in this run with MACH musing about the events of Standoff, but that ultimately is derailed by a paint-by-the-numbers fight scene with the Squadron Supreme with one of the hands down most visually incoherent fight sequence I have seen in a cap comic.
