"THE SPEED OF DARKNESS" part one! A villain from The Flash's history returns for the first time in years when The Shade visits Central City. But what does Opal City's master of shadow want with Barry Allen and the newly christened Kid Flash?
The same dialogues, the same challenges, the same voice-over, the same interactions between the characters, the same reminders that they haven't forgotten about the other storylines, over and over again. I thought this new arc would correct the flaws of the last one. It did not, and that makes me quite sad. The new artist, Felipe Watanabe, is also a disappointment, mainly because of the expressionmore

A Soviet "iron" hero, a superpowered American president, an insane cyborg soldier, an Afghan woman hellbent on building a better life for her people-these strange yet familiar beings collide in a story that...
Good starting point for a series, the story is somewhat vague, but you can piece together a little of what to expect. I enjoy slight alternate history stories and I'm not disappointed. The characters backstories could use a bit more fleshing out for motives and history, but still interesting.

In my humble opinion...truly awful...BUT it might be that I am the problem, and I fully accept that.
I'm not in that 9 to 12 age-group this is probably being aimed at, so please take this review as one posted by an admirer of Thomas, Buscema and Adams, of Conway, Shooter, Perez and Byrne of Busiek, Perez and Pacheco, Bendis and Finch...In comparison, the past 6(!) years have been BS...how bl more

I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this. I'm enjoying the story and the art, but it's really not X-Men related. Shouldn't we be seeing what happened to the notable mutants and mutant leaders of this new Ultimate timeline?

This is what the Ultimate titles should strive to be. Wonderful

Hisako Ichiki is a teenage girl who just wants to live a normal life - go to school, hang out with her friends, ignore the political strife broiling over after the events of ULTIMATE INVASION - but life has other plans for her. My main criticism is that this is not "X-Men", this is something else that borrows the "X-Men" title. I don't like that.
I have read many X-Men stories, and, in my opinion, Peach Momoko can't bring to the table the type of story that I expect from a book with the title "X-Men". If the book is called "ULTIMATE X-MEN", that doesn't help her case.

I want to give my initial honest reaction to reading this highly-anticipated comic book. Somewhat surprisingly, Tom King really gets Superman. This was psychological and inspiring all at once.
It is actually interesting to compare how Tom King's Batman deals with hopelessness vs his Superman.
