Avengers (2010) #1

May 19, 2010

I think that once this book gets in its groove, itll be great. As a first issue though, and a standard-sized one at that, its so different from what came before that this awkwardness was impossible to avoid.

Blood Brothers #1

Jul 17, 2013

Blood Brothers offers a slightly above average first issue with some beautiful artwork. Readers interested in a tale about Vampires skewing slightly more comical should take a look. Others should take a wait and see approach.

Captain Midnight #1

Jul 31, 2013

Captain Midnight has an okay first issue, but there is nothing that is incredibly complex here. Something else on the stands is probably more worthy of your time.

Catalyst Comix #2

Aug 7, 2013

The amount of ideas per page in this title are staggering. Joe Casey and friends should be admired for putting out such a challenging product. They need to start grounding some of these ideas or readers may not care much longer.

Gamma (One Shot) #1

Jul 24, 2013

Gamma has some great artwork, and uninspiring writing. The series can not be recommended with so many other great titles littering the stands.

Legion of Super-Heroes (2010) #1

May 19, 2010

Its hard to imagine a better first issue for a superhero comic. This is a fantastic experience that I highly recommend to any DC fan. Big in scope with plenty of great characters, give it a go!

Saga #6

Aug 30, 2012

Saga #6 wraps up the first arc of an extremely well done comic book series so far. We get everything from last minute suspense to a perfect ending in this landmark issue. With a name like Saga, hopefully this series will be sticking around for a long, long time. It would be a shame otherwise. If you arent reading this book, start. If you have been reading this book, it is your job to show your comic book reading friends the true joys of what is probably the best series on the market now.

The Private Eye #1

Mar 20, 2013

The world that Brian K. Vaughan has crafted is so fascinating and realistic that it makes the comic a real page turner. The basic plot is a familiar one, but with all of the interesting pieces spread throughout the story, the comic almost distracted you from its simple plot and drew you head first into the world. Disguises and shadowy intrigue will keep readers coming back for more as Vaughan continues delivering comic books that will capture your imagination.

The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys #2

Jul 10, 2013

This project has a lot of potential if Gerard Way could just start the story already and focus on the characters that are previously setup. This issue is once again drawn beautifully by the wonderful Becky Cloonan.
