Exit Stage Left: The Snagglepuss Chronicles #1 |
Jan 2, 2018 |
I'm pleased that Russell, Feehan, Morales, and Mounts have created a comic that satisfies so many of my interests. With how little free time I have on my hands, this is a big plus. No, I'm not too politically-minded, but current affairs have become inescapable. And I've always been a fan of historical fiction, so yes, more of this comic, please! And, bonus: you don't need to know anything about the original Hanna-Barbera character to connect to this story. The Snagglepuss Chronicles #1 tickled my brain and my fancy, and I think it'll tickle yours. |

Sword of Ages #2 |
Jan 9, 2018 |
Sword of Ages #2 is exactly what I wanted. The first issue was a pleasant introduction to the series, but I expect this offworld Excalibur story to be magnetic"and it is. The various characters and plots in this issue kept me glued to the pages. I can't wait to see what happens to our new friends, the White Monks. |

Sleepless (2017) #2 |
Jan 9, 2018 |
Overall, I'm not disappointed with Sleepless #2. It wasn't as surprising as the first issue, but I suspect Vaughn is preparing us for something good. There are too many original ideas to go to waste. I mean, I have to know the deal behind the Sleepless Knights. Sure, I had to take a break from the dialogue while reading this issue, but I'll return next month for more. At the very least, del Duca's lovely linework is enough to keep me in the game. |

Sword of Ages #1 |
Nov 29, 2017 |
Though Sword of Ages #1 isn't perfect, I'm hooked. I love the premise. I love the creatures. And, most of all, I want to see Avalon's story pan out. Rodriguez advertises this mini-series as an adventure story with classic evil-versus-good tension. We get a lot of exposition and setup in this issue, so I'm assuming we'll see more movement in the next five. If Rodriguez's promise is fulfilled, I expect this series will do very well and I'm very excited to be a part of it! |

Steven Universe (2017) #11 |
Dec 26, 2017 |
No, Steven Universe #11 wasn't my favorite, but maybe this issue was a dud. I'm willing to give the comic series another try or two or three before establishing an opinion. If you're looking to pick up this week's issue for yourself or your kids, just be prepared for a modest, plain story. I'm sure the little ones won't mind that! Fortunately, looking ahead (and behind), the cover art for this series is fantastic. That alone makes $3.99 per issue a bargain. |
