Overall I think that this is a book that caters to Zenescope fans and few others. If you're a hardcore fan, you'll be buying this no matter what I tell you. If you're a casual fan or a newcomer to the Zenescope line, I would suggest doing some research with back issues before diving into this event because you are going to get lost, quick. |

Is it good, though? No, not really. I can see it as a decent run-through of basic info that will help issue #2 present the meat, but as far as a standalone read it falls short in almost every way. The simple and boring art won't be missed, and the majority of the written content could be summarized in two pages or less. |

The art is actually quite nice. Richard Clark has a knack for drawing menacing creatures and his facial expressions, while occasionally contorted, read very well. The backgrounds vary from interesting to blatant blank walls. In general a decent portion of the art feels rushed. |

Overall the pacing is very good. The story moves along quickly thanks to the “split the difference” dual-world narration. There are a few decent bits of action and there are enough interesting morsels of story to leave you interested in issue #2. |

The art is also fantastic. Original characters pop from the page with rich, beautiful colors throughout. The action scenes are strong and swift and the individuals are all well defined and very well drawn. I adore the Feudalist style mixed with elements of manga. |
