The Being has been busy: releasing the old magic back into the world and threatening not only the fairy tales, but the entire world. It's an epic start to a new chapter in the Grimm Fairy Tale saga. The addition of classical creatures in the already diverse and amazingly storyline of Grimm makes the Unleashed arc incredibly monumental and promises much more in future issues. There are five other crossover titles that hint at the creatures and dangers that will befall the guardians of the world: Vampires, Werewolves, Demons, and Zombies. Carlos Paul, Jacob Bear and Miguel Mendonca work together to deliver a solidly rendered set of illustrations. The visual aspects found here work in concert with the script in order to deliver some potent sequences. There were a few illustrations that didn't seem up to the same level of detail as the rest but they did little to detract from the overall quality on display. Read Full Review
A perfect, and smart, way to introduce legions of legendary horror icons (vampires, zombies, werewolves, demons, etc) into the main fabric of the Grimm Fairy Tale's U, Unleashed looks to be the must read of the summer for horror/dark fantasy fans, as well as for fans of well written comic books that showcase strong female characters. The Being has strong potential to be a great bad guy. For me most times the story works when the villain scares us. If the fear is real the story is better. I saw some sparks of magic in him, so I will keep reading this series to find if he lives up my expectations. If not I will take more Sela in her Clark Kent glasses and will still be satisfied. Overall I think that this is a book that caters to Zenescope fans and few others. If you're a hardcore fan, you'll be buying this no matter what I tell you. If you're a casual fan or a newcomer to the Zenescope line, I would suggest doing some research with back issues before diving into this event because you are going to get lost, quick.
