Full of pulp-fiction appeal and comic wit, it's easy to picture this story as a dime-store novel that could be found on the shelves next to HP Lovecraft and Edgar Rice Burroughs. This action-packed story kicks ass and takes names from start to finish, and delivers an immersive tale for the ages.  

This comic raises a lot of questions for the DC fanbase, will Hanna Barbera characters start making their way into the actual canon, or is this a one-off comic that provides a Who Framed Roger Rabbit type look at two very different characters? Also, just why in general? That being said, this issue does provide a fascinating story that sucks you in right from the start and holds you there until your finished with a fantastic mix of nostalgia and good storytelling.

This storys use of small vignettes that go on around the two ambulance drivers as they experiment with drugs helps keep the story moving forward as well as tie-in comedy, thriller and even horror into the overall tale, creating a perfect drama. This can be a very hard thing to do with such a hard genre to write about such as existentialism, which, if done wrong can, become very mind-numbing.

This is an overall fantastic and funny story that features an unlikely hero in a very unlikely situation, and artwork that only adds to the comedy of the comic. It is very rare that Captain Boomerang is portrayed in a heroic light--well, almost heroic--but Suicide Squad #47 is definitely worth the buy, and would make a great addition to any collectors collection. Will it be worth something in the future? Probably not, but it is a very hilarious read for those looking for an interesting story to pass their time.
