Damian: Son of Batman #1

Oct 30, 2013

Not a strong start for the series and really not a great return for Damian Wayne. Let's hope this mini-series turns out worth it.

Batman / Superman (2013) #4

Oct 16, 2013

The first arc of Batman/Superman was fun, but kind of doomed to failure for being a prequel of sorts. While it doesn't end with a magical bullet (I still hate you Wolverine Origins), it may still leave some fans disappointed.

Halo: Initiation #1

Aug 5, 2013

This is a solid read. It helps build the character of Sarah Palmer, but this is completely an introductory comic. It spends a lot of time on exposition than one long fight sequence before ending on a whimper of a cliffhanger. I recommend reading it because the series does show potential.

Justice League (2011) #19

Apr 17, 2013

I keep using the word disjointed and that's what I'm going with for the recap. It feels like you are getting fed tiny bits of stories which can prove to be interesting in the grand scheme of things, but don't really help when reading this issue. It sets up some potentially cool and potentially rehashed storylines so leaving it in the middle because a lot of how this reads will depend on future issues.

Tomb Raider #1

Feb 25, 2014

You need to be a little familiar with the events of the game to get some of the emotional impact of this issue, and it is light on action, but a really great start to this series.

Velvet #3

Jan 15, 2014

My overall problem with the issue though is it felt like filler. A filler issue on its own isn't a bad thing, and this is a pretty solid story from start to finish. I just found it weird that we're 3 chapters in and it already fills like stretching it out a bit. Perhaps, things will look and read differently when issue 4 drops, but for now this just feels like a short stop on a solid series.

Injustice: Gods Among Us #14

Apr 17, 2013

A fun read and a fun little series. Don't go in expecting top notch story-telling, but it knows how to embrace it's level of insanity well. Wish the art was better.

The Illegitimates #4

Mar 18, 2014

The art in the book is solid. Some of the facial expressions were a bit off. Especially the close-up to the director when he discovered what Dannikor had planned. It was simply comical.

Samurai Jack #1

Oct 22, 2013

This comic offers everything I want in a number 1, a feel for the characters and the world, a complete story and a dangling carrot that makes me want to continue reading without feeling cheated. Samurai Jack #1 is a worthy follow-up to the animated series and can't wait to see what the future holds.
