Star Wars: Darth Maul: Son Of Dathomir #1

May 21, 2014

Son of Dathomir gets off to a solid start with a crowd-pleasing story that includes many popular Star Wars villains. As a big fan of The Clone Wars -- and having named Maul one of the two biggest unresolved plotlines when the show was cancelled -- it's great to see this story told and to once again discover what happens when the enemies of the Jedi battle one another, instead of the Republic.

Star Wars: Darth Maul: Son Of Dathomir #2

Jun 19, 2014

My issues with the art aside, the second issue of Son of Dathomir lives up to the series title by bringing in many of Maul's fellow Nightbrothers, in the midst of a very big, very engaging battle, while the hints at Talzin and Sidious' bigger struggle continue to entice. I also have to say how enjoyable it is to read the text at the start of the issue, which is clearly meant to be the newsreel type announcement that would open each episode of The Clone Wars " indeed, no doubt this is probably almost (if not simply exactly) what we would have heard, if these episodes had been completed.

Star Wars: Darth Maul: Son Of Dathomir #4

Aug 20, 2014

he third issue of Son of Dathomir remains the high point of this series, delivering the most exciting and intriguing elements. The finale is certainly cool though, while also ends with a bit of a "That's it?" feel, as it underlines that many of these characters and storylines were meant to continue in future episodes of The Clone Wars we'll never get. However, it's also a reminder of what a great world The Clone Wars was able to build up. Fingers crossed we'll get some more closure down the line, in a different Star Wars story...
