Guardians of Knowhere #1

Jul 28, 2015

While Knowhere #1s visual bravura intoxicates the orbitals into graphic insatiability, Brian Michael Bendiss (Ultimate Spider-Man) efforts at wordsmithery, may have proven even more effective had he gone all the way through the minimalist wormhole of his own making: His lack of eliciting even the slightest intrigue with his rote story, wouldve been better served up had not a single word been written at all (this, despite the fistful of Eisner, Bendis owns). I was reminded of how mind-blowing the animated shorts of Aeon Flux, from MTVs Liquid Television, circa 1991, were, without one stitch of dialogue. Might Marvel, want to attempt to make this title teeter on the precipice of Knowheres brow? I say: 86 the writing from this zine, and have it meet up with Jack Kirbys dusty corpse.

Holy F*ck #1

Nov 11, 2014

Imagine, if you will, a comic world in which the Devil in all his details, walks towards your white picket fence in the front yard, bearing his ever-friendly grin. Hes adorned in worn Bermuda shorts three sizes too small, a bit of a potbelly attempting to push through his equally tight golf shirt, sporting tighty-whiteys-bright knee high socks and black rubber sandals, '50s-inspired horn-rimmed spectacles wrapped around his orbs. He might even be holding out his arms to embrace you into his world of lies, with a twist of ruby red Maybelline smeared around his pie hole for good measure. Pucker up, and come along for the trip. There may be at least Seven Circles to this ride.

Operation S.I.N. #1

Jan 13, 2015

Born of Marvel's Original Sin, and dime-holed down the ink-barreled revolver of comic hitman Rich Ellis (Super Foes of Spider Man) " while illustrating the linguistically lethal stylings of the cunningly courageous Kathryn Immonen (Journey Into Mystery) " comes six chambers-worth of hollow-tipped lead to the temple, triggered forth in the form of: Operation S.I.N. #1.

Ill be shoveling worm dirt, digging for more down to the bloody quick of my fingernails. Rating: One, full-on, bloated and festering corpse, with all orifices fully distended..
