The art portrays the tone of the story very well. It has a sinister feel, and really helps convey the mystery of it all. There was a page with no dialogue that conveyed suspense very powerfully. There wasn’t any action in this issue, but in the previous issues it was superb.

The penciling in this issue was very average. It told the story well, but didn’t add anything to it. The faces seemed kind of wonky. The wonderful thing about the art is the coloring. It invokes the dark, twisted, yet sarcastic and funny tone that a Dexter story should have. The cover is beautiful, and makes good use of the (somewhat annoying) gigantic Dexter banner.

Another great thing about the book is the pacing. It gives a quick look at the upcoming action, then gives plot exposition, while also making us understand Hank through dialogue. There are quick character introductions for the A.I.s, then an entertaining and fun action sequence. During the action, the characters dialogue allows us to get to know them, in a way that doesn't interrupt the story.

Overall: This is a sub-par issue of a book that is consistently my favorite bat title. The characters and plot were great, but the weak dialogue hit the book hard, and the art was disappointing.

This had two great stories, and one below average story. My overall score should be an average of the scores of each individual story, but I think more is deserved. I love the concept behind the book, and the two good stories overshadow the poor one.

Overall: This issue was enjoyable, but had some notable flaws. If you’re a fan of pulps or classic literature, than I would suggest running out to find all three issues, but if you aren’t, wait for the trade. It’s worth reading, but would be better in one sitting.

Honestly, I can’t find anything I don’t like about this book.

While I still enjoyed the story, there's a certain level of repetitiveness that I hope doesn't continue past this issue.
