Another volume of Criminal ends but this time one of the greatest mysteries in the entire series has been answered. Teegs death was a tragedy of his own making and it was thrilling to read from beginning to end. Cruel Summer was structured perfectly from clever bits of foreshadowing to its multiple points of view and phenomenal character work. I cant wait to sit down and read it again.

Lois Lane #9 isnt afraid to get on its soapbox and talk about very real issues. That within of itself is applause-worthy. But it also finds time to have some fun, with great character work and furthering the narrative.

Criminal #8 was the issue I have been waiting for and it proved to be worth the wait. It was fascinating to finally get a glimpse at the messed up mental state of Jane. The Cruel Summer story arc will continue on for a while and is shaping out to be one the series best. Ed Brubaker, Sean Phillips, and Jacob Phillips are one hell of a creative team.

Lois Lane #5 and #6 continue the overall story of Lois and her life. It delves into journalism and what it really means to be a reporter. It also delves into Lois as a person. The contrast of the flashbacks in #6 with the present is guaranteed to get a reaction out of you. Truly powerful comics right here.

Blade Runner 2019 #3 brings us to new territory along with Ash. The status quo has been broken, the mystery deepens, new insights into the world are given, and Ashs character truly shines as one of the franchises best. If you are looking for more noir or cyberpunk fiction, then this series is where it is at.

While Im dating this review, it is worth noting that this comes out during a very real pandemic in the world, COVID-19. While the Hock Flu is a plot point that has been in development for years, it hits all the right notes for being incredibly relevant for todays crisis. This makes Lazarus: Risen #4 both a wonderful but hard to get through comic. Please check out this series even if it makes you uncomfortable. Besides the amazing characters, it has some very clear allegories to the real world that are important to understand. Family above all!

Once again, Emma Vieceli and Claudia Leonardi knock it out of the park. This is a powerful issue that every Life is Strange fan should pick up. Even if you havent been reading this series, Life is Strange #10 is something you do not want to miss.

Lois Lane #8 is another great issue in this series. It isnt a contender for the best, but it certainly demonstrates why this series has been fantastic from the start. It takes the plot in a new direction and gives plenty of action for slower-paced series such as this.

Life is Strange #11 and #12 brings perhaps the best arc of the series to date to a close. The trio is still together, and I look forward to seeing how the story unfolds. I appreciated the Tasha Yar-esque arc that Rachel went through in Strings and I hope she gets more focus in the future.

While not as emotionally impactful as the previous issue, Lois Lane #4 delivers on what it sat out to do. This continues to be one of the best things DC is putting out, and you need to read it.

Blade Runner 2019 #5 is a mixed bag. It's a good story that takes risks with its setting and characters. Not all those risks work entirely but perhaps they executed well enough to still be enjoyable. I continue to see how the story of Cleo and Ash will play out now much more differently than I expected.

Life is Strange #9 uses the heightened science fiction elements of special powers and universe hopping to analyze the characters at the center of the story. That has always been the series' strength and continues to be its biggest selling point. The focus on Rachel is welcome and the implications for the future are interesting enough to keep me excited every month.

Lois Lane #7 ends on a bang, brings back some characters Rucka is known for and has some great small human moments that empower the rest of the story. Its nice to be back in the major events despite how good Lois Lane #6 is. And who doesnt love Renee casually flirting with a maid that turns out to be a supervillain?

This has been a Question fan gushing about this for a while now. I know how it looks and that Im perhaps biased, but just got pick The Question: The Deaths of Vic Sage #1 up. This is what a Question book should be and being Black Label its able to go as far as it wants. You won't find anything like it on the comic book store shelf. Welcome to Hub City, its hell on earth!

Lazarus: Risen #3 is a great issue. Its tense and plays with the themes of series while developing characters and plot. Its not as action-heavy as the previous issue but it will sure keep you hooked. The reformatting of this series is really working for the pacing of the series, but the wait is killer. Until next time, family above all!

Criminal #9 is a loosely attached issue to the Cruel Summer arc. Jane doesnt appear and besides a few hints, the larger plot remains in the background. While the other issues have been for the most part standalone, forming a mosaic-style arc, they did build upon each other. What Leo will bring to the table is anyones guess, but I look forward to seeing how he connects to the long con Jane is running. Lets just hope his relaxed calmness under pressure doesnt make him cross a line that he can never come back from.

The Question: The Deaths of Vic Sage #2 is not as strong as its opening issue was but its damn good. A western is kind of perfect for The Question because of the inherent man with no name mystery that surrounds Vic. See you next time for more Vic but this time in 1941.

Blade Runner 2019 #7 keeps your attention with great character work and excellent delivered drama from natural conflicts. Ending with one amazing cliffhanger that I cant wait to see the aftermath of. Wrap it around some interesting parallels to real life and you have yourself a great issue in this vastly different but intriguing arc.

Criminal #10 isnt as strong as some of the previous issues in the Cruel Summer arc but it is quite good. Catching up with Dan Farraday was nice to see, just as it was unsettling at the same time. The setup with Dan and Ricky is intriguing but we still have two issues to go in the arc. Next up is this heist that we keep hearing about but as of now know nothing about.

Blade Runner 2019 #6 fixes a mistake I believe was made in the previous issue. While this arc hasnt been as strong as the previous its still worthwhile. Michael Green, Mike Johnson, and Andres Guinaldo are still a fantastic creative team and capture this universe in all its cynical glory beautifully.

Blade Runner 2019 #4 is a solid end to the first arc. I think the lead-up issues were stronger in many aspects, which is why this issue didnt strike me as much as the others. However, its still good and leaves off in such a place that Im anxiously anticipating the next issue.
