Dark One #1 |
Jul 30, 2020 |
Can we rewrite the narrative? Or is the role we fill already written for us on the soul of time? Dark One is an exploration of destiny, one that examines villainy with an oft-ignored humanity. Paul's struggles between fighting his destiny and accepting it"he must both own the violence of his identity and choose how to command it. If he cannot rewrite it, perhaps he can punctuate it, creating moments pregnant with pause, space for thoughtfulness, and exclamations that change the telling of the Narrative. |

Writer Kieron Gillen teams up with artists Dan Mora and Tamra Bonvillain to give us a new take on an olde world in Once & Future. Duncan McGuire discovers that his little old lady grandmother, Bridgette, is a retired monster-hunter. The action-packed pages that follow are but a taste of the world this team will unfold for us, one that blends a modern 2019 with one of the greatest legends in Western culture. |

Coffin Bound #1 |

Coffin Bound is an unapologetic thrill-ride set in a weirdly poetic marriage of film noir and 90's grunge. |

So pause. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath. If you hear the mean voices, breathe again. Feel your lungs expand, contract"they are working just for you. Know that your heart is beating for you. Your body is there, doing its best to keep you going. Be gentle with yourself. |

Money Shot (2019) #1 |
Oct 24, 2019 |
If Stargate SG1 and Galaxy Quest had a baby, and that baby grew up and decided it wanted to do all the sciencing and also star in a porn series, you would have Money Shot. The book is colorful, fun, hilarious, and uncomfortably close to real life. I'm ready to see more floating pickles, Godzillas with strap-ons, and the lengths that science will go to for discovery. |

Bury the Lede #1 |
Oct 10, 2019 |
If you're a person that has ever binge-watched Law and Order: SVU, this might be the graphic novel for you. I don't care if you think you're not into comics. Read anyway. And if you are into comics? Also read. Because not only does Bury the Lede serve up a great killer and a questionable protagonist, it leaves you hanging, waiting for the next call on the police scanner. It makes you wonder where the lines for humanity are drawn within each of us, and how easily we could be pushed from protagonist to villain. |

Strayed #1 |
Aug 8, 2019 |
Strayed is a look at humanity and the things that motivate us as people. It interrogates opposite ends of the motivational spectrum: greed and love. It also asks us some of the Big Questions: Where do we go next? At what costs? And above all, how did we, the human race, get lucky enough to have pets that love us so much? |

Join the Future #1 |
Apr 28, 2020 |
Join the Future doesn't shine for its amazingly deep characters. It shines for its world development, for its fascinating concept of what the future of colonization might look like, what route environmentalism may take, and for casting a light on which values in a humble, technologically empty society are worth saving. |

Vengeance of Vampirella #1 |
Oct 3, 2019 |
Sniegoski and Maria have taken a long running comic with a ton of history and reopened it, and they have done it in a really warm, welcoming way. It's as if they have opened the doors to this Chaos world (a seemingly overwhelming and possibly inaccessible world to a new reader like myself) and said, "Come on in! Welcome to Vampirella! The blood is just the right temperature, and don't mind the dust. That's been settling for the last 25 years. Let's brush off this little horror story together. Join us!" |

Faithless #5 |
Aug 26, 2019 |
Confused, intrigued, and wanting a little more. I'm on the bus next to Faith, waiting to find out what secrets she's going to uncover about herself. Waiting to find out where Azzarello is driving this thing, and waiting to see what new horrors or carnal moments Llovet will have waiting for us when we arrive. Sometimes predictable, sometimes shocking. Sometimes a perfect mirror of human emotion, sometimes a reflection of seemingly thoughtless lust. Either way, it's definitely a ride. |
