This fun, literary, and riveting new series of BOOM! Is worth following as the idea, story, and talent are all there to give you a fun new twist on your childhood past.

Even though the five genius protagonists are introduced in the first issue, only a few are mentioned with greater detail. Kilbride seems to be the main focus of this ish, as the leading member who brought The Unit together now held up at Sawlung (Giving up the ghost) Hospital. Question is, what ghost is Kilbride trying to give up? Quickly, she goes from being tube-fed to wanting her sandwich: assigned to find a missing person and asset to the organization. Despite this surplus amount of exposition, Ellis confusion and curiosity still makes me continue Injection; thecomic succeeds in making this critic want to know exactly where this is all going in a rather positive way. On a side note, the Injection team has stated in recent interviews that sandwiches will be a significant thing in the series. Killbrides hungry so, someone, please get on that.

The detailed artwork and vibrant coloring really transports you to Ara's world, as well as the breathtaking illustration that reflects Ara's bold and soft nature. Every page is cover art quality

So, yes, the orb can destroy, but term suggests that with destruction comes life. Doesn't seem as bad with that perspective. Despite this passing contradiction, the fast paced and chaotic nature of the story didn't leave much time for reflection, especially when few sophomoric bites were thrown to lighten the mood. Kesgin's energetic and expressive artwork ties perfectly along with the action packed storyline. Though the storyline is somewhat predictable, The Goddamn Wu doesn't mind hitching a ride on this magic carpet.

Although The Darkness never truly appears because it is set before and on the day of Aldemo's 21st birthday, the day that The Darkness blesses and curses the Estacado male line. However, this ancient is alluded to through the sad story of Aldemo's conception, his response to some Yo' Mama taunts, and of course, most artfully by the mention of the poet Rimbaud (Thank you for that Easter egg, Kot, from Literature geeks everywhere). Oh, and The Darkness is also a motherfucking video game. Again, TGW thanks Kot and Olesicki for classing it up and proving once again why comics are a valid literary medium that isn't just about hot superheroes in tight clothing beating up bad guys.

It seems the focus of this issue is to set up the Catch-22 of our vampire vixens and other vampires in their quest to save humans or solbreeders, their only vampire food source; they must kill and feed on more humans to have enough strength to continually fight and destroy the plague of the subdead, a bit of irony and interesting conflict that will be interesting to see Brooks develop. Are vampires in a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation?

Even without Phillips' intense and detailed artwork, the rapid-paced dialogue exchanges, phrasing, and word choices are enough to transport you into the world of The Fade Out. Keep your eyes out for the next issue, GHGers.

The focus of #3 is the major turning point in Cornelius's troubled past, much like the Red Hood emerging from chemical waste and young Bruce Wayne witnessing the murder of his parents. But, in these few pages, Sanchez and Echert made The Goddamn Wu not give a damn who Cornelius is or becomes by making one sympathize with the flaws and strengths of the three major characters. Both The Horseman and Navigator seem to be heroes, just with different styles and methods. Though, one does hope that Cornelius is just fantastically cray-cray and that the trio makes up one fucked up trinity.

At least, some of the panels will bring loyal Vampirella fans to hold up the issue to their faces for a look-see. Who doesn't like to see a sexy vampire left in bondage and branded? This only leads one to wonder which sexual fetish Collins will throw in next. Collins and Berkenkotter can forgo the prescribed self-flagellation if their intent was to be horrifically campy. Until Vampirella returns as the bad-ass we all want to see, this vampire vixen should be left alone with Sookie at Merllotte's with a bottle of True Blood.
