Venom (2016) #159 |

Venom #159 doesn't bring anything new to the table. Its more of a filler issue to me, like its setting up for the next part of the story. It was nice to see Anti-Venom back in action. I am disappointed that Maniac didn't do much either, all he did was bark orders. For crying out loud, Lee Price was the guy who broke the Venom Symbiotes will and forced it into submission. At least have him throw down with Spidey or Black Cat. I did love the art style for the issue, the sharp edges in use fit a Venom comic. |

As for the artwork, Scott Kolins and Tom Derenick has amazed me, the detail in some panels is perfect. |

Blue Beetle (2016) #14 |

So far, the new writer Christopher Sebela is great. The whole issue is reminiscent of a classic 50s alien movie, where the aliens themselves look 50s style with the big helmets. As for the personal interaction between Jaime and Naomi, clearly the writer understands the issues with relationships, and how stressful some can get, especially if you have an alter ego. The art is good as always, though sometimes the characters faces can look silly, especially if theyre drawn to be at a distance. I do like the direction this series is heading, and I recommend it anyone whos looking for young heroes you can relate to. |
