Legends of Red Sonja #1
Nov 6, 2013 |
What more is there to be said about this excellent collaboration between three fantastic writers who know the character of Red Sonja as well as they know themselves? The tale fits together like two oars and a boat. The art though varied is all in keeping and in touch with the essence of the story. Red Sonja is often just a name mentioned in awe. We see her in action, then hear of her exploits from men who vainly chase her legend, some for revenge, others for profit, but all that happens here is because of a fruitless chase for the almost mythical, ferocious yet beautiful, fighting alpha-female Red Sonja. And that's how it should be. So look again to the beginning of this review. Look at the image of Red Sonja as she sits upon her throne. Look at Red Sonja. Look at Red Sonja. |

If you were thinking about checking out Charles Soule's take on Swamp Thing then this is the perfect time to do so. Big things are happening in the world of Swampy, and the book is now firmly established as one of the most consistently enjoyable comics available today. |

The Movement #6
Nov 7, 2013 |
So with the group of heroes finally finding their collective funny bones, Mouse in danger and a few other treats sprinkled on top of this ice cream delight of a comic, I'm happy to report that the Movement #5 is once again a comic that I'm looking forward to reading each month, rather than just a worthy, po-faced comic that I was kinda starting to feel obliged to read. Nice one Ms Simone, roll on next month. I'm looking forward to reading your book again. Well recovered, you know I always had faith in you, don't you? |

Transformers: Dark Cybertron #1
Nov 6, 2013 |
That doesn't sound too good for the planet of Cybertron does it? What it does do though is make for an intriguing beginning to a comic book arc. A beginning that interests me more and more as I finish of this review. So was my decision to pick up this comic a good one? Yeah, I think it was. Not a bad decision after all. |
