Buckhead (2021) #1 |
Dec 8, 2021 |
Buckhead #1, by BOOM! Studios, is a great start to a limited series about a family in Buckhead, WA who immigrated from Nigeria. We soon find that there is much more to this town than meets the eye, and perhaps even more to the reasons this family has come so far to such a seemingly unusual and mysterious, but well-hidden place. BOOM! Studios seems to have done it again, leaving me wanting more of this story as soon as possible. |

Batman vs. Bigby! A Wolf In Gotham #2 |
Oct 22, 2021 |
Issue #2 of the Batman vs Bigby! series by DC Black Label reveals more of what is to come, while continuing to leave us with intrigue yet to be uncovered Some is only hidden from Batman; we readers get a peek at a few big secrets this time, some with and some without our main protagonist along for the ride. The art continues to be a strong point, yet this story continues to leave me with many questions for which I need answers before the next full moon. |

Catwoman: Lonely City (2021) #1 |
Oct 19, 2021 |
Catwoman: Lonely City #1 is an engaging start to the new story created by Cliff Chiang. It presents many interesting dilemmas and problems to be solved, while giving the reader plenty of good reasons to be curious about this older, perhaps wounded Catwoman, and how far she will go to find out the meaning of the last word she heard before things fell apart 10 years ago on Fool's Night. |

A Righteous Thirst for Vengeance #1 |
Oct 5, 2021 |
I leave this book with more questions than answers, and a lot of curiosity about what is to come of everything I have witnessed. I even found myself wishing the intermittent rain that fell throughout the story would turn into the proverbial hard, cleansing rain, to give the man a fighting chance, just in case he really had a good reason for coming so far to see the people he found in such an awful situation |

Batman vs. Bigby! A Wolf In Gotham #1 |
Sep 29, 2021 |
Each of the three days counted down to the ending of this issue in the present brings more of Batman's anger to a roiling boil, driven by the need to protect his loved ones, Gotham City included. And with the end panel teasing "Next: Blow your house down," this reader needs some payoff soon. Bring on the Big Bad! This blerd girl has had plenty of build-up and is ready for the main event" or at least a sneak peak at what Bigby(!) is truly bringing to Batman's front door. I may be a bit disappointed that only the artists hinted at this wolf, but I look forward to seeing more story development soon from this creative team. There are plenty of ways to go from here. |
