Fistful Of Blood #1

Oct 20, 2015

I have no idea why this book even exists. There is noting unique to it. A town hard on its luck. A "savior" stumbles into town. The book looks terrible and it's poorly written. I felt no connection to any of the characters or the plight of the town. There are better books on the shelf these days. Don't waste your time or money with this.

Uncanny Avengers (2015) #1

Oct 15, 2015

This is an Avengers team I do not care about. I appreciated the poking fun at Deadpool, but I too can't stand anymore of him. He wasn't funny, just annoying. Deadpool worked so well in Uncanny X-Force, but not here. He cracks jokes and no one does anything, it feels like unneeded fan service. The villain looks cool and feels like a decent threat. This book was a let down as I expected more from Stegman and from the writing. I am interested in how these characters interact with each other but not enough to keep reading this title.

The Black Hood #6

Oct 28, 2015

For me, too many captions. But they do help readers get inside the character's thoughts. The issue looks great and is colored very well. There is top notch talent on this book and this stand alone story is great for readers to jump in.

Mega Man #54

Oct 20, 2015

These characters are great. Seeing Break Man want to become someone new is moving. Readers can identify with the struggle and it's great to see this character break out and become something new. Though simple in nature, the themes presented here are powerful.

The Shield (2015) #1

Oct 14, 2015

I was pleasantly surprised by this issue. It seems basic on the surface but I feel like there are greater elements at work. The Shield isnt the type of book I would normally read, but its premise seems intriguing. With the great art, and the quick paced writing, this book moves fast and delivers well.

Transformers: Sins of the Wreckers #2

Dec 31, 2015

For not being a die-hard Transformers fan, this issue was a nice change from what I usually read. I am captivated by the intense emotions and strong desire for redemption. I imagine that if I were up to date with my Transformers continuity and characters I would enjoy it even more, but jumping in this issue was still satisfying enough to recommend this series to those who are fans of the franchise.

Jughead (2015) #1

Oct 6, 2015

While I am not a huge stickler for continuity, it was weird reading Archie interacting with Betty when the whole #lipstickincident has not been resolved in the main Archie title. However, Archie comics traditionally tell stories where there is no overlap. Obviously, Mr. Weatherbees still principal in Archie. So it goes both ways. Overall, the writing is amazing. Jugheads dialogue is spot on and the situation Zdarsky sets up is great to draw readers in. Do yourself a favor and pick up Jughead for glutinous adventures.

Jughead (2015) #2

Nov 17, 2015

This issue felt more realistic and plausible than issue one. I really enjoyed the detention scene and the interaction that allowed between Jughead and some other characters in Riverdale. I'm still not a fan of the art. But the writing is solid and the stories that Chip Zdarsky and Erica Henderson are presenting to readers fit perfectly within the Archie universe.

Jughead (2015) #3

Dec 31, 2015

There is definitely a larger tale to be told in Jughead. Chip Zdarsky slowly builds to what will be an interesting climax. He understands these characters and by adding in new "antagonists" is able to offset the balance of good ol' Riverdale.

The Hangman #1

Nov 4, 2015

This book is creepy and dark. It's heavy coming from Dark Circle. There is language and subject matter that is very adult. It contains a great story and fantastic art. Where this series will lead is intriguing. The Hangman is an interesting character whose status is improving.

Archie (2015) #4

Nov 25, 2015

I really had no idea what to expect from the #lipstickincident. While it kind of felt cliche and done before, I think it's actually really powerful. I don't want to give spoilers, but it basically comes down to who we are. Are we what we wear? Are we what we do? Think about it. There are even some great Jughead moments. I am very happy with Archie #4 and recommend it to everyone who has been following the series.

Archie (2015) #5

Jan 8, 2016

Archie has never been this good"even when Riverdale is being attacked by zombies. This series is the must read comic series. Everyone and their dog needs to pick up this series and see what Mark Waid is doing.

New Avengers (2015) #1

Oct 15, 2015

Because I am not familiar with all of the characters in play, Im not sure how much I will stick around for. However, Ewing knows his Avengers and has written some great teams. Because of who the main villain is, this series promises a strong start. Im hoping that it can deliver and be a success because these characters need more time on the shelves.
