Tyler Head's Comic Reviews

The writing in this book is poor in quality and zips from one thought to the next. The story beats are essentially writing gags/jokes in the tone of humour you can expect from GWAR. The plot is there but is disorienting at most times, despite the comic dialogue/exposition trying to explain what is happening in the moment directly to the reader. This is a hard book to recommend as it relies on a bad sense of humour, and cheap gags. If that's your thing then this book may be for you.

I loved Black Science #30, and as a reader of the series this issue brings together all our favourite dimensions and characters from the past. Seeing older story threads be continued in this issue is solid, and while my only gripe is that this story arc ended without a proper ending, you will surely be left wanting and eagerly waiting for the next issue to come out in the unforeseeable future.

The book is full of action and excitement, with great scenes that move the story further in an interesting way. The art is perfect for a dark & shadowy vampire book and the beautiful Texas environments are well realized. The writer seems to be holding a lot back from us which makes us readers want to keep reading to unravel all the mysteries. Also, there are a lot of cool hooks in this book for readers to get interested in this book. I really enjoyed this book and hope to continue reading further. Be sure to pick this issue up on May 24th, 2017!
