Britain, 2019. The secluded rural village of Harrowvale holds a dark past - years earlier, on a farm bordering the vast tracts of woodland, it hosted a cult that was seeking to escape civilization and find purity in the old ways, worshipping an ancient deity called Thistlebone. Led by the charismatic Jasper Hillman, their pagan beliefs grew ever more radical to the point where they held the young Avril Eason captive with the intention of sacrificing her. But Avril escaped!

And this collection really allows TC Eglington and Simon Davis' work to breathe, to build up its slow, creeping horror, and allows the beauty of Davis' career-high artwork to be seen to its best effect. Having missed the opportunity to read this during its debut in 2000 AD, Im pleased that its getting a graphic novel release. With a growing and well received offering of the graphic novella format, this tight, contained tale should be a priority for any horror fans. Read Full Review
Thistlebone is another in a growing list of comics showing why we should all stay inside. I didn't need a pandemic to tell me that. I have comics like Thistlebone to show me that no good things come from going out in the woods. Read Full Review
