Firefly #27 is strong. Light on words, sure. Fast and over too fast, sure. Still, it is an excellent look at what could be. I was nervous about the mixture of the past two years of Boom's new lore and the Dark Horse run, but this seems to fit perfectly. The new art team is amazing. That final page is epic. I don't want to give too much away, but don't worry about the pooch. Mal wouldn't let anything bad happen. Things are looking shiny. Read Full Review
Engaging artwork carries a bigger part of the weight with this simple but compelling story of one man's battle with his stubbornness and seemingly insurmountable grief. Firefly diehards hoping to see more of the popular series cast might come away disappointed but overall the issue solidly works for fan or non-fan alike. Read Full Review

Booms current run on Firefly continues to be disappointing, the characterisation for the leads feels off, and the explanations for Mal’s recent disappearance don’t feel in keeping with the character. Rather than being a good issue giving readers plenty of opportunity to reconnect with Mal it feels like the entire issue could have been condensed down to only four pages and not be any worse for it.
