There's still so much rich lore for Stevenson and Ellis to explore, so many questions to be answered, and so many other mysteries to be solved, which is great now that Lumberjanes is an ongoing series. These first eight issues have proved the Lumberjanes have what it takes to not only carry this entire book, but also make it thrive. There's not many other books " if at all " that will make you feel this ecstatic and elated after reading it. Until the next arc, friendship to the max! Read Full Review

Comic Bastards - Nina Bird Nov 19, 2014

This issue was absolutely ridiculous, but in a wonderful and entertaining way. We got a lot of answers, we got Jo back, and the power of friendship literally knocked a group of boys unconscious. Ripley's moment with complete power over the universe was perfectly in character. Apollo and Artemis' fights were extremely entertaining: they're gods, but they're also just squabbling siblings who only pause the fighting to agree that their dad is super embarrassing. This was a really fun read, and now that this arc is over, I'm looking forward to what else the creators come up with. This comic's vibrant colors, quick quips, pop culture references, and emphasis on friendship above all else make a really fun, endearing read that is truly all-ages. #8 packed a lot into one issue, but it wasn't overwhelming, and nothing was glossed over. The writers do well balancing the barrage of answers in the issue with the action that wraps it all up in a very neat- and colorful- bow. Read Full Review

Maarta Laiho continues to fill in the color with the heart of our characters. In her low-detail, full-color style thereader knows the details shown on each Lumberjane's face will be done so with attitude and control. From April's bulging red eyes, to the dreamy-like POOFS appearing on-panel when a moment of action is thwarted, Laiho continues to bring the warmth to one more tale on the true power of friendship and all of its weirdness. Stevenson, Ellis and Allen have introduced and maintained a cute and funny cast and upbeat themes. "Lumberjanes" #8 is a satisfying conclusion for the first story arc. It'll be interesting to see whether the next creative team can build on this solid foundation. Read Full Review
