The Heliopic Brotherhood of Ra hold a Victorian themed party complete with the unrolling of a mummy, with decidedly unexpected results, including a gun-blazing vigilante promising justice!
Since Indiana Jones seems dead even in comic form, it's good to know that the Lobster is more than willing to satisfy my adventure jonesing. Live the adventure: Feel the Claw! Read Full Review
I really enjoyed this issue, but I didn't love it as much as I normally love LOBSTER JOHNSON. Like I mentioned previously, I felt the story felt rushed. I think in general it's a great introduction to the character (especially if you're a new reader), but those of us who are fans (like I am) might be a bit disappointed. I think it's a great story and this issue had a great concept, but felt that because it was so contained, much of the story couldn't be flushed out. I wanted more, but maybe that signifies how great I think the issue is. Aside from the fact that it's short, Arcudi and Mignola are great at organizing a story and making it clear and easy for a reader to understand. Wilfredo Torres' pencils are paired with some beautiful colors by Dave Stewart, which really sets the tone of the issue. Overall, it's an action packed, fun adventure with a very interesting story. It's a little bit campy and very pulpy; so if that's what you're into, you won't be disappointed. Read Full Review
Of particular note is the simply awesome, vibrant, and kinetic cover by Tonci Zonjic that sets the tone for the entire one-shot. I'd get that thing framed, if I could. Read Full Review
This is a fast-paced thriller that doesn't attempt to be anything more, and is all the better for it. Read Full Review
This comic isn't earth shattering, but it is a lot of fun. It is a great pulp adventure tale and I look forward to delving deeper into Lobster Johnson's world. Read Full Review
"Lobster Johnson: The Prayer of Neferu" is just like all the old and great short stories from decades ago. The strangeness is set up and then continues to escalate until our hero is backed into the tightest corner available. From there, anything can happen and usually gleefully does. This lurid one-shot does exactly what it needs to, then a little more, and finally it smartly wraps up. Let's all have more of these. Read Full Review
The Prayer of Neferu is an enjoyable done-in-one romp that hits a lot of the right notes, but it doesn't do much more than that. If you're jonesing for a good adventure yarn, you could do worse than this story, but it isn't the most memorable of Lobster Johnson's stories. Read Full Review
