ADVENTURE COMICS returns to its historical numbering with this issue just in time for Paul Levitz to retell the Legion's origins! Everything begins on a somber note reflecting on the past with "The Last Will and Testament of R.J. Brande"! Also, this issue begins an all-new co-feature starring The Atom, which continues the story begun in this month's BRIGHTEST DAY: THE ATOM SPECIAL #1 as Jeff Lemire (SWEET TOOTH) launches Ray Palmer into an exciting new adventure smack-dab in the middle of the DCU.
This is an okay issue, but actually not as good as the last few issues of the young Legion have been. Levitz is doing exceptional work on the core title, and Ive got my fingers crossed that next month, this series will return to that level. Read Full Review
So, it's a nice story ... a retread with some new beats for an old time Legion fan like me. Kevin Sharpe's art is fine. But the book felt a little bit like seeing a repeat on TV, or a movie remake. I would love to hear what someone hearing this story for the first time thought of it. Jeff Lemire and Mahmud Asrar's Atom back-up story is a solid story with Ray Palmer seeking out the Calculator. I have never been a big Atom fan but this was pretty good. Read Full Review
It's sad to think that just a year ago, a new issue of "Adventure Comics" from Geoff Johns, Francis Manapul, and Clayton Henry was an exciting event. Now? With a monthly "Legion of Super-Heroes" title existing, and a "Superboy" title en route, I wouldn't feel too bad if "Adventure Comics" got the axe. Unless it gets a creative kick in the seat, there's not much to recommend it sticking around. Read Full Review
