    Geek Dad - Ray Goldfield

Cass as a metahuman is a unique twist and one not all the fans are embracing, given how unique she was as the most skilled human fighter in the world. But Takeshi Miyazawa’s art goes a long way towards selling me – this is an excellent effect, like something out of a dark fantasy martial arts epic. And that’s where this issue finds its inspiration. Returning home isn’t always for the best, especially when portions of the past keep rearing their head causing complications in ‘Batgirl’ #17. Another issue that proves why Cassandra Cain rules and why this series keeps chugging along with such power. Read Full Review

There’s no time for dinner as Cassandra Cain invokes a dangerous curse. Brombal’s writing speeds through a chaotic awakening of powers. Miyazawa & Castro bring the action with great fighting sequences. A new era starts with much room to expand in the bat-verse. Read Full Review

Batgirl #17 has been advertised as a new jumping-on point for readers, but with there only being seventeen issues, I think it’s worth reading the entire run to get the full context. The issue gives you enough to understand Batgirl’s dilemma as she takes herself to the newly built Wucorp tower to unravel the mystery of her new blood capabilities. I believe there might be a little confusion surrounding the supporting characters involved with Cassandra Cain, but overall, this is another great issue that continues to dive into Cassandra’s character, breaking her down further all the way to her blood. Overall Miyazawa's artwork was quite solid, and Brombal served up a strong start to a new storyline. Will he manage to keep the momentum going in part 2? We'll find out together next month! Read Full Review

    AIPT - George Loftus

Batgirl’s return to Gotham happened at just the right time. She brought back elements of her globetrotting adventure that make Gotham feel both bigger and more personal all at once. Her supporting cast continues to develop and even well-worn wrinkles of her past are presented in new and entertaining ways that make them feel more fresh than familiar. Read Full Review
