This is a tough one! We have one of the most lousyLegends of the Dark Knight stories paired with one of the best. Luckily, the good one takes up 2/3 of the book and it really is worth checking out. The art and writing on “Unnatural Selection” is truly top-notch. It's just a shame that it wasn't coupled with another story of equal quality to make this issue a must-buy. Read Full Review
this series used to be in my pull-list once upon a time when i was subscribed to everything and anything 'Batman'.
this redux of 'Legends of the Dark Knight' might not be as epic in scale as the original titled series that started in 1989, but this one does have some very cool stories throughout mixed in with some of not-so-good stories.
the first story in this issue 'Carved' is one of the not-so-good stories. it's far fetched, and just plain silly.
many of the happenings in the story defy logic or any sort of reality that they could actually happen.
suspension of disbelief only goes but so far.
and the art (while interesting) doesn't suite Batman and his world very well.

the second story 'Unnatural Selection' on the other hand is pretty dang awesome!!!
it features very cool art with a realistic and dark tone, that is not only very cinematic but also is a perfect fit for Batman as well as a gritty detective story.
without giving too much away, Batman is investigating a string of murders in Gotham by an unknown animal.
my first thought was "it's gotta be Killer Croc", but thankfully that gets ruled out right away.
the second story in this issue is definitely worth checking out.
the first one might be better to just ignore. more
