Ruby and Bruce head to the Faunus Quarter to investigate reports of a red-and-gold blur. But things quickly get out of hand as the blur runs circles around the pair of heroes!
Delivering mostly satisfying answers to the series' many questions and giving us endearing quiet moments between the characters, RWBY/Justice League #5 is a solid chapter in this crossover miniseries, setting the stage for what will hopefully be a satisfying climax. While Marguerite Bennett still has difficulty managing such a large cast of heroes and giving each of them a distinct voice, she has definitely shown that this particular Justice League could exist quite well without team RWBY around for potential future adventures. Generally this issue didn't do it for me. I was hoping for a different story, one that had some answers mixed with action as they geared up to face off against the threat to their world and way of life. Instead I got a lot of exposition, answers I didn't need, and a whole lot of characters hanging out in a way that doesn't feel earned yet. Instead of building on the momentum from the previous issue, everything kind of fizzled out a bit here, despite Bennett's best efforts to keep that from happening. Read Full Review
