Jay Garrick has opened a school for youth with special talents and abilities, to train a promising new generation of Super Heroes. However, things fall apart as a mysterious foe, determined to take down the new Titans team, attacks the San Francisco Pier—pushing these young heroes to their absolute limits.
So this was a good little side adventure in the Smallville, deepening the roster of that universe and catching us up with Superboy, Miss Martian, and Jay. We get some Young Justice. We get some Super Friends. And we get Ravager. Add to that Staggs' moody pencils and you have an entertaining special. Read Full Review
It's a damn shame that this issue wasn't more enjoyable, since I'd really been looking forward to it. The artwork is dark and uninviting, the characters never really define themselves as anything but ineffectual, and the sole adult is a whiny mess. Given that the rest of Season 11 has been excellent, I'm willing to give Bryan Q. Miller and the rest of the team a break, but let's hope this issue becomes a distant memory sooner rather than later.
