Comic Book Bin - Andy Frisk Mar 4, 2009

Overall, and I apologize for not going into detail about the art which is completely superb, World of New Krypton, if evidenced by the first issue, is going to be an instantly classic Superman tale. Read Full Review

The Weekly Crisis - Kirk Warren Mar 4, 2009

I'm not sure if I'll be following the other Superman titles, but I'm definitely sold on World of New Krypton. Excellent first issue that has sold me on the "world without Superman concept". Read Full Review

    Comics Bulletin - Alex C. Lupp Mar 9, 2009

This first issue does its job admirably. It establishes a story with great potential for the year to come. I just hope that it will live up to it. Especially since, I recently saw a similar maxi-series (Tangent: Supermans Reign) end less than gracefully. Read Full Review

Chuck's Comic Of The Day - Chuck Mar 6, 2009

Whatever the reason, I find my interest in this story fading fast. And now that Superman is self-exiled from Earth, he's not appearing in Action Comics (which has been turned over to Flamebird and Nightwing) or Superman's own comic (which stars Mon-El). Read Full Review

Comic Book Resources - Doug Zawisza Mar 4, 2009

"Superman: World of New Krypton" has been solicited as a 12-issue series. That means the clock is ticking from here, with less than a year to pull together "- and complete "- this story. With the tandem of Robinson and Rucka crafting the tale, I have no doubt the story will involve characters introduced here, from primary to secondary to tertiary. These writers are known for their strong characterization and excel at making the mundane into something exciting and challenging. In a world where everyone has Superman's powers, these writers will continue to make the character one of a kind. Read Full Review

    IGN - Dan Phillips Mar 3, 2009

More and more it's beginning to feel like I've been writing the same review for every Superman issue that's come across my desk, and I imagine that will continue to be the case as long as the franchise's writers remain concerned with plot and ideas over story. Yes, the idea of Superman "abandoning" Earth to live among his fellow Kryptonians is an interesting one, and the development seen on this issue's final page definitely opens up some compelling plot opportunities. I just hope Rucka and Robinson can figure out a way to turn their plots and ideas into something I genuinely enjoy reading. Read Full Review

Comic Book Revolution - Rokk Krinn Mar 8, 2009

Superman World of New Krypton #1 was a solid and serviceable read. This issue has the potential to be exciting. Unfortunately, it also has the potential to be a shallow and unimaginative story. Readers who enjoyed the New Krypton story arc that weaved through Action Comics and Superman will probably enjoy Superman World of New Krypton #1. And readers who like traditional super hero tales will probably also enjoy this issue. However, readers who demand for a more complex and unique story may find Superman World of New Krypton #1 shallow and uninteresting. Read Full Review
