Decades ago scandal propelled the Lord of Gore B-movie franchise to mainstream success. In 1989 the film's costumed slasher actor murdered a young actress in ways worse than his on-screen character, creating a media frenzy. Now on the cusp of a modern reboot, a struggling screenwriter learns that the deranged star wasn't the only guilty party that night, but before he can share the information, the film's slasher seems to have stepped from the screen into real life to stop him.
Lord of Gore #1 is a compelling dive into the nerd culture-oriented portion of big budget filmmaking. With a compelling protagonist and almost too many good plotlines to follow, Lord of Gore #1 makes for a great opening to the series. DB Stanley and Daniel Leister are really onto something here. I enjoyed the story enough to come back and give the second issue a try, despite the weak art and corny dialogue. In part I want to support this company that supports the local comic scene in and outside of Chicago. But I'm also a fan of horror comics and small publishers so it's worth it to me in giving this title some time to develop. Read Full Review
