ELVIRA MEETS H.P. LOVECRAFT #1 takes a commendable step in the ongoing series. Avallone skillfully balances the exploration of Lovecrafts complex character while staying true to Elviras adventurous spirit. The artistic prowess, especially in depicting Lovecraftian horrors, adds a layer of visual excellence. The redemption arc for Lovecraft and the clear explanation of the Elder Gods versus the Great Old Ones showcase Avallones deep appreciation for the source material. Read Full Review

This book knows what it is and doesn't try to be anything else. It pretty much works. The plot hook is bland but serviceable and the dialogue could be a little funnier, but the art is great and the facial expressions do a lot of lifting. Given the expectations for, as Elvira put it, a 'Dynamite funnybook,' I'd say that this is looking pretty solid as long as you aren't expecting the next Watchmen or Maus from it.
