Noah Salonga has done a lot of work on similar titles (Red Sonja, Xena, and Wolverine), and his experience shows very strongly here. Salonga is a fine artist with good sensibilities about how his artwork will compliment the story. Dynamite will doubtless use Salonga for more titles in the future; I hope that he will continue to spend time in the Sword and sorcery titles. I think that this might of and could have been a good work had not so much attention been applied to the Sanctuary itself. I recognize what Mason was doing, I just don't know if he hit the mark with it really. Still, it is written well enough to fall under the "OK" aspect. There is no mind blowing revelation here. But, it plays for a reasonable read that is nowhere near the level of sucktom that I have seen in other versions of Red Sonja. All in all, a decent try. Read Full Review
This issue is a disappointment as there are some major themes that are interesting when it comes to the roving loner that is Red Sonja. The themes are there and that's commendable, and the art works for the most part too — the comic doesn't succeed overall though. Read Full Review
