This issue is a pretty good jumping on point, which Dynamite points out on the absolutely gorgeous cover we get here from Mike Mayhew. After all that has come before, Vampirella steps into a larger world, one that has a lot of background material to catch up on but which helps to really cement the organization and what it's doing. In the end, a fairly intricate story is introduced, and Vampirella joins the Kabal and is off to solve her first case. That the issue ends in somewhat the same way as how it started is a good touch, as it makes the story feel both ongoing and circular. This is a far more serious take on the character than any that I have seen. Numerous reboots have been attempted on Vampirella, but it seems that they invariably end up being taken not seriously enough, paying too much homage to her roots as a cult status sex symbol. If the character is going to survive long term with any publisher, then an approach similar to the one here is needed, where Vampirella is a hero first and a sex symbol second. Read Full Review
