    A Quiet Place: Rising Tides #1 understands that the franchise works best when silence complicates an already difficult human situation. Declan Shalvey centers the story on Grace's attempt to reconnect with her estranged father, then turns the alien invasion into another barrier between two people who already struggle to communicate. The boat setting is especially effective, creating an enclosed space where a coughing fit could become deadly and escape options are limited. Luke Sparrow does much of the heavy lifting once dialogue disappears, building tension through expressive characters and ominous glimpses of the creatures. With a hurricane approaching, the series has established a strong survival scenario with an emotional problem that can't simply be outrun. Read Full Review
