Overall, this issue provides us with an intriguing flash of what Gateway promises to bring. Although there is not much progression from a plot standpoint, the details revealed about the world and the character development witnessed through dialogue are compelling enough to make this issue successful. Additionally, the book ends on a particularly captivating note that sets the series up for the truly climactic elements it has hinted at so far. I am incredibly interested to see what Halpin has in store for us, as the world he has created promises to be full of obstacles and conflict, which will undoubtedly challenge the protagonist in exciting ways. A few revelations are made, a few additional questions are raised, and things finally start to get moving by the end of this issue, however with only three issues left, Im interest in seeing how the Halpins and Moyano wrap things up. The time they took between publishing the first book and now (roughly a couple months, by my estimation) shows; the artwork is crisper, the dialogue rings truer and the pacing feels far more in tune with the story theyre trying to tell. Whether or not that will remain consistent through the end of the miniseries is yet to be seen. Read Full Review

Comic Bastards - Samantha Roehrig Feb 5, 2014

All in all, I was disappointed with how Gateway entered into their second issue. I think the issue was a transition issue to get Jake from one place to another, but come on dudes. We shouldn't be seeing this right now. But like me, don't give up just yet. Gateway will probably bring in some interesting discoveries with issue three. Jake has got a lot of ground to cover.
