The explosive literary mashup series returns! But this time, Godzilla is taking on the classics one story at a time. O Godzilla, Godzilla, wherefore art thou Godzilla? First, it’s invading the Bard’s most revered play, Romeo & Juliet. Families at war! Forbidden love blossoming! Godzilla on its path of destruction! Fair Verona won’t be so fair for long! And that’s not all: Tom Scioli is returning to the series to write and illustrate a backup story starring the legendary thief entitled “Robin Hood and the Monster of Nottingham!”

It’s a direction for Godzilla that I had never thought of before, but I am nonetheless very excited for. If you too are a lover of theater, big monsters, or just love a campy spin on a classic story, then I have no doubts this book is for you. Read Full Review

More Godzilla is better than less Godzilla, and this book proves it. With Godzilla Minus Zero coming down the pipe, it’s awesome that we aren’t getting the same kind of stories from every Goji adaptation. Whether you enjoy Romeo & Juliet or not is up to you, but even if you don’t like that story, you should pick this issue up. This is old school comic goodness, a fun look at a classic that deserves your attention. Read Full Review

It's an interesting exercise period and honestly, Godzilla would work as a force in the background of just about any of Shakespeare's works. There's quite a bit of power in a tragedy involving two warring facts. And Godzilla fits possibly more perfect perfectly there than the monster wood in any other context. And so it's really cool to see it put together. What at first seems very silly and absurd actually turns into something much more beautiful by the end of the issue. It's a pleasantly disorienting experience. Read Full Review

Sean Peacock's wonderful art and Tom Scioli's backup story are worthy reasons to check out Romeo & Juliet and Gozilla, but a poor script that's both too loyal to its source material and too haphazard with its deviations drags it down. Read Full Review

Godzilla’s Monsterpiece Theatre Presents: Romeo & Juliet and Godzilla is an uneven start in Godzilla’s new rampage through classic literature. Sean Peacock’s art is fantastic with great designs throughout the main story and Tom Scioli’s Godzilla Meets Robin Hood backup story is really cool. Unfortunately, the main story’s narrative doesn't reach the chaotic heights I hoped it would but I’m still intrigued by what lies ahead. Read Full Review
