We Talk Podcasts - Brett Monro Apr 6, 2018

This special edition is chock full of interesting extras, such as script to art pages and an interview with Guy Dorian Sr. and Sal Buscema. I found that comparing the script to the pencilled pages to be very informative and the interview was fantastic. I always loved Rom back when he was with Marvel, so whenever I get a chance to see Rom look a little bit more classic, Im always a fan. This book reads well and works nicely to add character to IDWs Rom universe. This is a really nice package as a whole, and even if you have the original Rom issues with this as a back up story, I would still recommend grabbing this issue to read the combined story and get all those tasty extras. Comic Crusaders - Johnny "The Machine" Hughes Apr 4, 2018

Guy Dorian Sr. has dedicated this issue to Jack Kirby. I like the sentiment, even if Rom is one of the characters that The King had zero impact on. With that sentiment in mind, this book, with its dialogue and at times clunky art, is something of a throwback to a simpler ageof comics. The fact that this a re-presentation of a classic Rom tale adds the that bygone vibe.Current fans of Rom, may well enjoy having their hero gain another ratchet of loss. For older fans, there is an interview with Sal Buscema amongst the extras on show. Read Full Review

"Tales of the Solstar Order" succinctly tells a somewhat paint-by-number but reverential sci-fi tale. At its heart, it's ROM at his best, but the book itself feels extraneous. Who is it for? Read Full Review
