If I could find one fault of this first issue it would be how much more Doctor Who has in terms of story than Star Trek. While it certainly injected a ton of fun into a particularly dark opening, I would have liked to have seen a tad more from the Star Trek story too. I would have even paid another dollar in order to get a few more pages for Star Trek to get a little more play. Star Trek: Next Generation/Doctor Who #1 looks like it's going to be everything a fan of both shows would want " big action, a villain so powerful neither can defeat it alone, and the spot-on portrayals of characters we know and love. This was better than I expected, but I still had to wonder how matching up old Star Trek (obviously not the oldest) and new Doctor Who is really going to work. Hopefully The Next Generation crew gets some shine in the next issue, but this first issue wasn't a disappointment in the least. Read Full Review
"Star Trek: The Next Generation / Doctor Who: Assimilation" #1 is slightly slow, both in story and art, but it's not bad either. It's got some good enough ideas, and I appreciate both the approach and the final page reveal. It's going to need to get a little more energy all around, though, to keep readers beyond the second issue. There's potential here, but we need more than potential to continue much longer.
