Get Your Comic On - Dave Jones Jun 14, 2023

I'm a big fan of the Spawn universe and can definitely say that Gunslinger Spawn has become my favourite out of them all, the series keeps bringing me everything I need in a comic, action packed tension in the story and mesmerising artwork that blows me away each time. The series is now 21 issues deep and has no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Read Full Review

Gunslinger Spawn #21 is a fast and furious team-up with links to recent events in The Scorched. It features dinosaurs, the Clown and his minions, and Violator. It's frustrating that it starts with such an epic battle, goes back in time to show the planning stages, and ends before events in the opening pages. Still, all the Spawn books are frustrating, as they always leave you wanting to know more. Read Full Review

Comical Opinions - Gabriel Hernandez Jun 14, 2023

GUNSLINGER SPAWN #21 sets up a climactic battle between demons from Hell and dinosaurs(?), and it looks even cooler than it sounds. That said, this issue feels like a breather to build the relationship between Dakota, Taylor, and the Cowboy, which is a good jumping-on point for new readers but a momentum killer for existing readers. You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff Jun 14, 2023

Not everything works. Some of the costuming is remarkably silly. As beautiful as it is, so much of Gunslinger Spawn #21 is so repetitious that it could have been easily edited down to half an issue. The interplay between demons and dinosaurs and time travel and magic and gunplay could really find a way to come together brilliantly, but it would take a more clever sense of thematic modulation than McFarlane is attempting. There have been moments over the course of the series thus far that seem to have been reaching for something bigger. Its consistently disappointing to see McFarlane fail to live up to the potential of the premises weirdness. Read Full Review

It was a good read, but the ending felt a bit abrupt.

*[Please note: The official synopsis for this must be taken from a different issue. Shaman Waya doesn't appear in this issue.]

In this issue we continue the story from #20 which saw the return of Dinosaur Queen Dakota. She appears to be looking to team up with Gunslinger and Taylor, but can she truly be trusted? Taylor doesn't think so, but Javi seems to be open to them combining their efforts against their mutual target, (no spoilers here).

It's a simple story and a pretty fast issue to read, but 100% worth taking your time to appreciate Brett Booth's awesome art. I'm happy to say that McFarlane is still enjoying himself writing this comic. Long may it continue!
