I think we haven't seen the real meat of the story yet which is probably going to be issues 2 and 3. I need to see some implications of what Superman is doing adressed. But yeah I'm confident this could be a new classic Superman story.
I'm not a huge fan of the film but I am of this book. The film is nostalgic to me as I love Frazetta and saw it as a child but it wasn't great, just cool to see animation that was considered "adult". Here Willingham is able to take the film and expand on it with a prequel tale. All the characters are here with explanations of how they came to be how they were in the film. Never knew I needed bmore
A FANTASY CLASSIC RETURNS TO LIFE WITH AN ALL-NEW PREQUEL SERIES!

Mark Waid just gets DC. You can tell he really loves this universe and it shines through more strongly than the Marvel work he does IMO. Supes and Lex each have a specific voice and act in character which is refreshing since some modern comics sometimes steer away from that so the author can have their specific voice heard in the book. Editors anyone? lol.

While the world wants to say good riddance to Luthor, Superman will go to the ends of the universe, through different dimension...

A really strong 9 out of 10, this one. I wasn't sure about splashing out 7 bucks for it, but now that I've read it I think it's worth every cent. Mark Waid writes a great Superman and Lex, and Bryan Hitch delivers the goods with some truly stunning art. When he's firing on all cylinders, it's a joy to behold. I also want to shout out Kevin Nowlan who does a great job inking Hitch's pencils.

The cover is the best thing here. Starfire is more of a TEEN titan here. This is character regression out the wazoo. Kory is a warrior and a leader but here all she is concerned with are the labels lovingly placed upon her. How horrible to be called princess. This tries to be empowering and heartfelt but just becomes annoying. I kept waiting for a few panels of SF doing a tick tok of how annmore
The Titans have stepped up to become the DCU’s premier superhero team, and all eyes are on them! Who are Starfire, Raven, Donna Troy, and Beast Boy? Where do they come from, and what do they stand for? All will be revealed in Tales of the Titans, an all-new series of spotlight issues in the spirit of the beloved 1980s classic Tales of the New Tee...
Cutsy wootsy humor and art with a bunch of crying and talking out feelings and some cheesy fight scenes that are cringy at best. YA authors should be kept clear of comics based on what I've seen recently. (edit: I do love Rainbow Rowell on She-Hulk tho) This entire series was one of the worst pieces of excrement since Tim Drake Robin. I hated the new hawkgirl series but it's one million times bmore

But there's no time for Escapade and her teammates to lick their wounds - Nefaria and his diabolical Lethal Legion have set their sights on a convention center in Midtown New York to make hundreds of humans ...
Ehhhh. I hated that I got through this book in just a few minutes but it was a fun few minutes. The pages could have used a few more panels for the fighting and the colors were too muted for my tastes but this is pretty violent and a fun ride. Hated the villain told Blade how to defeat her . He would have found out himself but it just seemed idiotic. Very sparse dialogue but Blade is more abomore

When i saw this books score after reading it I knew something was off.
Sure enough, some genius hear basically spelled out that he was sent here by some Twitter right winger named Gabe Hernandez so this book is being review bombed.
Why you ask? Same old. It has a scene from a BLM protest and a gay character.

The real racist is the one who agrees with and believes racist things, even when black people say them. Thomas Sowell, for instance, is a giant critic of affirmative action, which I assume you agree with since you're criticizing the education system. Affirmative action is a good thing for minorities; it recognizes the socioeconomic imbalance between the different races due to a history of segregation, bigotry and violence.
It allows people who otherwise would be stuck in their station to rise beyond it, instead of continuing a cycle of poverty that would otherwise be impossible to escape. The people against affirmative action are racist people, and Thomas Sowell is one of them.
This is a realy good opening issue and it looks stunning. Pepe Larraz's art is excellent. I haven't read all the Millar series that this event will include, but I still enjoyed the story very much. It left me wanting to read the next issue asap but I'll have to wait until August. It has also made me want to read Millar's Starlight, Prodigy, and of course Wanted.

The comics event of the summer is here!
Okay, this is so top secret we can't even show you the main cover because it spoils something MASSIVE. Just trust us when we say that this is going to be the comic book event of 2023-and it's NOT what you're expecting.
Does the crossover really go that wide? Yes...
A little rant first. I hate to whine but dude, the "critics" who write for sites have Hawkgirl just a little under this book in scoring. WTF!? Hawkgirl even got a ten and at this time there is no 10 for WF? This wasn't the best ending to this story but it was damn close and a million times better than HG. They give kudos to trash while at the same time giving the books the real fans love decemore
World War A.I. hits its climax, guest-starring dozens of DC heroes in a war against Newmazo and his machines that will determine the fate of humanity-and lay threads for a menace that will soon pop up in the pages of Shazam!
Gender/sexuality ideology with no connection to the titular character. A hot pile of trash from an awful writer. Leftist propaganda disguised as a comic book. All you want to do is read an enjoyable comic book and you get this self insert, social issues trash.
PS: I do have to refer to the art of Amancay Nahuelpan. As always, it's good, but the writing is too terrible to bump the score.

I have more 2 say in trying 2 explain myself but it's hard without talking directly. Dealing with some on here pisses me off & I was a bit dickish initially so I apologize. I enjoy fussing so I'll be back 4 other books if u want 2 go back & 4th again. Glad u enjoyed the book though.👍
Not that it matters but I am left myself. If I could vote in this country it would be my party in the current climate. I'm just of a mind like Obama. He said "it's fine 2 be left but you don't have 2 be soooo left". I find it annoying. Either side. Later.
Some notes so people can understand where I come from in this review.
I have read Axelrod's other work Galaxy: The Prettiest Star (I got it free from someone who was just give the stuff away for free when I picked up other books from them). I would give the fist issue a 5/10.
For this book The art get the 2.5, its good. Fun and nice to look at.

Do you not question why Axelrod make these artist choice? This book doesnt deserve more than a 5 just based on some egregious marks of a poor writer: 1) Most of the book is talking and saying what is going on/why things are happening, not showing 2) 2nd Character overshadows Hawkgirl. Axelrod made an active choice to put in enemies that are specifically weak to Galaxys poorly defined powerset (and I am referring to her original series here), to make her appear OP.
Axelrod has made several choices which reflect poorly on Hawkgirl. When a writer puts in an OC character, they better be darn good. Galaxy does not merit being in this book. Replace her in the scenes with Superman/PowerGirl doing the heavy lifting. It for one makes more sense and two, wouldnt change the story much. Lastly you keep saying no one is refuting your points. Well I am. This is a terrible character exploration start. Focus on her already established relationships and herownpsychosis
Dear God, I pre-ordered this. It was 50% off and now I see why. Glad I only went with #1 instead of the whole series. Didn't think they could make me hate Kendra but I was wrong. They made her the most unlikable person in the comic! Isn't that the villains deal. Horrible!

I'm surprised I enjoyed this one. Rosenberg has not been doing well lately in my opinion but this turns it around. Decent stuff.
The Joker’s worst nightmare becomes a reality: he’s got a day job! How will he handle meetings that could have been emails?! Why did management cancel “bring your child to work” day?! Who will want to make small talk at the coffee machine?! What is Alexis going to pick for lunch?! And who is the masked madman terrorizing Gotham at night?!
This is more like it. A decent horror story with some eye-catching art by Dexter Soy. I like Ed Brisson's writing here. He's been doing good work on Batman Inc, too.
This felt like a palate cleanse after the Batman issue. Definitely worth a look if you have any interest in Ravager.
Defend your life, Rose Wilson! Ravager is separated from Stormwatch and trapped in a nightmare world where she must protect her younger self from being consumed and corrupted by the Murder Man and his blood-crazed Slaughter Squadron. Can Ravager protect a young Rose Wilson without losing her own identity? Why does the Murder Man seem so familiar, a...
A big disappointment.
Not much happens in the 22 pages of main story. We do get a lot of recapping of events most Batman comic fans will already know well; been here done that before. The art is mixed, even looking a bit rough and rushed at times, some panels are blurry. Maybe that's intentional for atmosphere but I found it distracting. And I usually enjoy Guillem March's art. But now, trapped in the Nightmare Realm, Bruce is stalked by the horror he’s created! Can he escape before his own nightmares pull him deeper into the darkness?
This book is meant to be funny. I've laughed once while reading this series and it's in this instalment. The one word testimonial by Kraven was funny and the rest of the comic is the same junk as the rest of the series. These pitiful kids get their feelings hurt over the least little thing, fight about in the middle of a battle, and the resolution of it is part of the story that is just wasted more

The whole Ms. Marvel Drama seems forgotten as a bizarre slapstick tone permeates this new issue.
Doc Ock is back and upgraded. J Jonah Jameson is acting completely out of character. And Kraven even makes a brief appearance to be made a fool of by Octavius and as an excuse to info dump about Otto's new appendages.
Ed McGuinness's art is decent but his version of Doc Ock comes more

I have never read a Hulk comic before this, which, after reading some other reviews for this book, may be a reason for my high score.
Frankly, I loved this. The body horror was awesome, but so was the distinctly human horror found in the relationship between Charlie and her father. The art was phenomenal, and Matthew Wilson has definitely become my favorite colorist. Truly I was blown more

It's almost a crime that this comic isn't selling 200,000 copies each month. It's arguably DC's best current comic. I've been praising Dan Mora's art since BOOM's Once & Future and I'm delighted he's on this book. Waid appears to be having an absolute blast writing this series.

I think it's speculators & collectors have just bought it out of habit for years. Great character marvel keeps getting wrong.
This series is amazing but I'd buy it if for no other reason than to get to see sooooo many older characters DC just never uses anymore. This comic is a modern Who's Who in the DC universe without the stats. It's a glorious comic book.

After the hype, this opening issue left me disappointed and my wallet a lot lighter. 9 bucks! It's mostly set-up and takes 40 pages of actual story to not really go anywhere. The Epilogue was intriguing, but felt like too little too late.

I'm probably rating this higher than it deserves but it's a huge improvement over last issue. I never imagined I'd feel sympathy for a set of robotic arms. The ending took me by surprise as well. Vic is insufferable and the art is bad. That's all I can really say about this. I'm afraid Cyborg has been screwed out of a solo title yet again by lousy creative.
