Theres a very smart sense of pacing about the opening issue of the current series. The series of scenes that comprise the first issue have a very compelling sense of forward momentum about them that serves th overall action and drama of the series quite well. Once again, Lady Mechanika makes it to the page in a narrative package that feels distinct and well-balanced from beginning to end. LADY MECHANIKA: THE DEVIL IN THE LAKE #1 begins a fanciful Steampunk tale about a monster-hunting cyborg sent to rescue a research team from a sea monster. Joe Benitez and M.M. It was better than average. I remember reading one of these arcs a while ago and liking it, but it was way to wordy. Same here with this issue.
