In this final chapter, it's an epic, one-on-one collision with the evil of General McCoy as Otis and Old Joe's survivors attempt an escape through the pitch-black tunnel networks beneath the abandoned silver mining town of Dead Water, Nevada.
In the end, it's a very memorable series. It has its own strength, its own power. It's something that really couldn't be done quite in the same way in any other format. That makes it a really good graphic presentation of sequential art. Although much more lean and stripped-down than his previous efforts - specifically the decades-spanning, genre-shifting That Texas Blood series - News From The Fallout marks another significant achievement from writer Chris Condon, with bold, starkly-rendered artwork from Jeffrey Alan Love bringing life (or, should I say, death) and gritty texture to this mythic, doom-filled, post-apocalyptic fable.
