SELF-CONTAINED ISSUE
"TRUMPED"
When a tyrannical madman assumes command of the United States, aliens are deemed a threat to national security and targeted for elimination-and that includes Malcolm Dragon and his family! With a country turned against him, Malcolm Dragon fights as he's never fought before!
A story that does not tie into the overall plot of Savage Dragon, this story has a serious political edge to it. It is almost a direct response to things happening throughout the world, but put within the context of a superhero comic. Readers will no doubt find this delightful, others may be upset by it, but all should remember, it's only a comic book and should be treated as such, a story. Its a darn fine story, but its still just a story. Read Full Review
Timely, uncomfortable, and packs a visual punch. Savage Dragon just got real, going where most comics fear to tread. Super heroes encounter political obstacles that will change their futures. Recommended. Read Full Review
Will Dragon eventually go to Canada? Will he and his friends become an enemy of the United States? How long will this last? I haven't been reading in quite some time but in this simple, focused issue, Larsen has me interested in coming to see where he takes this all and how this magical world full of superheroes deals with real world bigotry. Savage Dragon, a title that always tries to keep its finger on the pulse of current events to weave them into its real time narrative, takes an uncanny look at the rise of American fascism with title character Malcolm Dragon (and family) caught in the crossfire.
Also there are bombastic battles, and adventures in other dimensions. Savage Dragon manages to ride that tight rope of reality and fiction. And A+ issue.
I've bought Savage Dragon on and off for 20 years, but this is the end. Following on from his recent tasteless and purile depiction of female genitalia, we now have an insane depiction of the current US president. I am British, and have little interest in defending him. However, I believe in democracy, and I do not believe Trump supporters are the racist lunatics depicted here.
We have a rich liberal (Larsen) telling people divisive and complete lies. If right wingers issued such hate-filled propaganda, they would be (literally) lynched by the leftist media and their zealots.
