When Jonathan Reason falls asleep, he becomes...something terrible. Teaming with his friend Tabitha, they come up with a theory for both the origin of this problem and its possible solution. After disagreements on the best way to combat the creature, the townsfolk begin to split into factions.
I've been hooked since issue one of this story, and it shows no sign of letting go just yet. Sleep #5 is an excellent progression of the story that may provide some hope (and provides some fertile ground for theorizing). Read Full Review
All of these fascinating elements makes for a riveting story. Is it a slow burn, yes. Is it thrilling, also yes. These characters are magnetic and mysterious. The world itself exudes a strange aura. I can't help but crave the next piece of the puzzle. Jon's past hides a secret, I'm sure of it. However, so does this town as a whole. It's a living breathing character in the story. There is a sinking feeling around the edges of each panel that there could be some major plot twist at the end of the mystery that somehow cheapens it. There could be a stinger at the end of this whole thing which would just totally destroyed the beauty of the mystery of what Cannon is bringing to the beach and it would just be awful. There's no reason to believe that Cannon would necessarily all victim to this sort of thing. As the mystery continues to lurk around the corners of the action, the possibility that the revelation at the end of the all could be disappointment, continues to haunt every page. Read Full Review
Something stunning about Cannon's use of colour in this; the palette is almost a character in and of itself.
